The Wedge Lens in action

Yes, the holy grail of 3D footage viewing — viewing without the glasses. We love 3D, yes we do. But we hate them glasses, oh how we hate them. So here’s a solution from the Microsoft [NASDAQ:MSFT]  Applied Sciences Group — beaming two separate images to two each eye. Although this approach has been tried before, this solution from the Microsoft ASG is slightly different.

The whole 3D market for consumers may be at a nascent stage but the number of choices within that market are growing very fast. There seems to be a race amongst manufacturers to constantly come up with better 3D solutions to capture the market at the very beginning. Of course, the battle has just started and so LG [NYSE:LPL] has decided that this is as good  a time as any to release new 3D TV’s. It has recently launched two new 3D TV’s as part of it’s high-end Infinia line.

One of the main complaints against the 3DTV’s is that they need you to wear these silly 3D glasses. This really kills the experience for a lot of people. And when you are sitting down with others, the glasses take away from the experience of watching something together. They get in the way of communication, which is usually unspoken while the show’s running. Sharp’s new technology looks to do away with the glasses for watching 3DTV.
