Samsung recently showed off their A800 3D projector and the capabilities seem pretty impressive. This projector is capable of projecting a 3D image with the help of Active 3D technology and still maintain a high resolution with good color quality. Even though it has not been released and hence lacks a third-party opinions, it definitely seems like a projector that will win the hearts of quite a few 3D fans.

Samsung’s A800 3D projector uses active 3D technology in order to project 3D images on to a screen. Viewers will of course need to wear specialized glasses to get the proper 3D effect. But even though it is projecting a 3D image, the resolution remains at 1080p, satisfying those who demand a high resolution performance from their projectors. After all, the 3D crowd is already used to having HDTV’s at their homes with HD content available easily both online and offline.

The A800 maintains a brightness rating of 1000 lumens, which is commendable given the fact that it is projecting in 3D at a 1080p resolution. This brightness might be too little for live environments but since this is mainly meant for private viewing inside darkened screening rooms or living rooms, it should fare well. The contrast ratio is 10,000:1.

Another important feature to note for the A800 is the flexible image size which can be made to fit a lot of different situations. The A800 can project an image of a minimum of 40 inches and a maximum of 250 inches and every size in between. There’s a also a zoom lens fitted to the projector to help cover the distance between the projector and the projection surface.

The lamp is said to last 1,500 hours in normal mode and 2,000 hours in eco mode, which I must observe is not that high.

Samsung has not released any pricing or availability for this model but hopefully it is coming soon.
