The whole 3D market for consumers may be at a nascent stage but the number of choices within that market are growing very fast. There seems to be a race amongst manufacturers to constantly come up with better 3D solutions to capture the market at the very beginning. Of course, the battle has just started and so LG [NYSE:LPL] has decided that this is as good  a time as any to release new 3D TV’s. It has recently launched two new 3D TV’s as part of it’s high-end Infinia line.

The two 3D Infinia TV’s carry the names Infinia LX9500 and Infinia LX6500. The LX9500 is the flagship model that sports a profile of only 22.3mm, which is pretty thin for a TV. It is also blessed with LG’s premier LED technology and hence has a much higher density of LED’s on the screen than the older models. According to LG, this ensures higher contrast, better sharpness and greater energy saving. Basically a win-win situation. May be except for the price it is. Coming to that later. It also has TruMotion 400MHz, which is very high refresh rate, making for extremely smooth display and video. There’s of course full 1080p HD support.

Both the models are compatible with DLNA and come with WiFi capabilities. So they can stream online videos and media content from your PC. Which is means Youtube becomes a family entertainment source.

watching 3D footage on these TV’s requires shutter glasses. The ones that come with the TV’s are rechargeable via USB and last for 40 hours on a mere two hours of charge. The LX9500 also supports Multi Picture Format — the global standard for 3D content. So you can also use it to view user generated content.

The LX9500 has two screen sizes — 55 inches and 47 inches, which cost $8,000 and $6,500 respectively. The LX6500 comes in 55″, 47″ and 42″ and costs $7000, $5,500 and $4, 500 respectively.
