The Resident Evil movie franchise is currently on its fourth film. This latest one is called Resident Evil: Afterlife, made by Sony Pictures and releasing 10th September 2010. True to the franchise, this is a movie about how the world is turned into Zombies and how someone goes killing those zombies. But this movie will be of note for another reason — it will be using the same 3D technology that was used for making Avatar.

Resident Evil: Afterlife is going to use the Fusion Camera System that was used for making Avatar. This is technology is patented by James Cameraon and Vincent Pace and this latest Resident Evil movie will be the first movie since Avatar to use this technology. We have heard talks of other movie makers using Avatar’s technology but this is definitely the first movie to have confirmed its use.

The Fusion Camera System is the world’s most advanced 3D technology developed for movie making and it is the reason behind Avatars super realistic 3D effects. It was developed especially for the Avatar project.

Coming back to the Resident Evil movie, it will be a continuation of the last movie. The lead character of Alice will be played by Milia Jovovich. In a world ravaged by an infectious virus that turns human beings into the undead, Alice is trying to gather the remaining survivors and fighting the evil Umbrella corporation.

In this movie, that journey to gather up survivors continues and the conflict with the Umbrella Corporation continues. In this movie, we see the return of Alice’s old friend Ali, played by Claire Redfield.

They travel to Los Angeles following a tip off about a haven that is safe from the undead. But when they reach there, they are faced with thousands of undead and a deadly trap lies in the wait for them.
