Most of the 3D news may be about new 3D technologies or 3D displays but 3D projectors are not too far behind. Acer has recently come out with two new DLP projectors and they are both 3D ready. They excellent choices for homes and will provide the same immersive 3D experience that is found on the modern 3D displays.

These two projectors are the H5360 and the X1261 DLP projectors. The first one — the H5360 — can deliver HD video at 720p (1280×720) and has 2500 ANSI lumens illumination power. It has a 16:9 aspect ratio to match most of the HD video and content that home owners are expected to watch. It also has a 50-120Hz refresh rate and a 3200:1 contrast ratio.

The H5360 has an HDMI input, RCA inputs, a 2.5mm audio mini-jack, 15-pin D-Sub connector for PC analog output and also supports component video and S-video mini DIN. It will retail at $699.

The X1261 is made to offer more features at a lesser price and it does that by sacrificing a few key features. It is recommended for homes, offices and schools. This too has a 2500 ANSI lumens rating but a higher contrast ratio of 3700:1. It has a native aspect ratio of 4:3 but it can be adjusted to 16:9 as well when the input demands it. It has an XGA resolution (which is lower than 720p of course). This has a 50-120Hz vertical refresh rate as well. It lacks HDMI input (not that it can support HD) but has composite video, S-video mini DIN and a stereo mini jack. It will retail at $579, which is significantly lower than the H5360.

Both of these projectors support 3D through the NVIDIA 3D vision technology, which can transform normal 2D content in to 3D imagery. It contains special NVIDIA hardware that makes this happen but you still have to wear glasses to watch 3D content on this.
